To really explore Chambok and truly experience rural Cambodian village life, staying overnight is a must.

homestay1So to make things easy, we have created several itineraries (for groups of 2 or more) that include a range of activities – from a 2 day/1 night stay in a homestay – up to a 6 day/5 nights stay including three days trekking and camping. Each package can be customized based on your interests.

with guide

Each itinerary includes a local guide as part of the package. He/she will help you get the most our of your stay at Chambok: showing you around the area, explaining more about our way of life, and acting as a translator when speaking with local people.

All your meals will be freshly prepared by local women at our Women’s Restaurant (including picnic lunches if you will be away hiking or trekking). Overnight, you’ll stay in one our homestays with a local family, allowing you to connect with real Cambodians and witness their everyday life.

Prices for these packages vary depending on how many people in the group so please contact us. You can also customize these itineraries if there is something you’d particularly want to do.

ITINERARY A    2 days / 1 night

     Day 1      Day 2
  • Arrive in Chambok

  • Explore the villages with a guide

  • Meet some of the locals, explore the rural life of the villagers

  • Learn to make traditional handicrafts

  • Hike in the forest up to a lookout point and swim in the river

  • Watch local children performing traditional Khmer dancing

  • Stay the night at a homestay and chat with the family there

  • Ride in an ox-cart along a forest path

  • 3 hour hike with a local guide, visiting 3 waterfalls and a bat cave

  • Return by ox-cart

  • Say goodbye to the community and leave Chambok after lunch

     Day 1      Day 2
  • Arrive at Chambok and meet your homestay family

  • Learn to cook food in the traditional way with local women

  • Bicycle ride around the villages

  • Meet some of the locals, and learn about the rural life of the villagers

  • Hike in the forest up to a lookout point and swim in the river

  • Watch local children performing traditional Khmer dancing

  • Back to the homestay to chat with the family and sleep

  • 12 km day hike:

  • Hike through a forest to the top of a waterfall and up to the edge of a mountain

  • Swim by the waterfall and have a picnic lunch then rest in hammocks under the trees

  • Return to Chambok for dinner and spend the night at your homestay

     Day 3
  • Ride in an ox-cart along a forest path

  • 3 hour hike with a local guide, visiting 3 waterfalls and a bat cave

  • Return by ox-cart

  • Say goodbye to the community and leave Chambok after lunch

      Day 1       Day 2

ITINERARY D    6 days / 5 nights

      Day 1       Day 2
  • Arrive at Chambok and meet your homestay family

  • Bicycle ride around the villages

  • Meet some of the locals, and learn about the rural life of the villagers

  • Hike in the forest up to a lookout point and swim in the river

  • Watch local children performing traditional Khmer dancing

  • Back to the homestay to chat with the family and sleep

  • Set off on a three-day hiking and camping trip

  • Hike through forest to the top of a mountain and see some amazing views

  • Swim by a waterfall and have a picnic lunch

  • Set up camp for the night and have dinner

  • Sleep at the campsite

      Day 3       Day 4
  • Hike to the top of Khon Klang Mountain

  • Trek down to the 2nd campsite for lunch (hike is 15km in total)

  • Set up the camp and learn to cook outdoors

  • Bicycle to Phdachivet Mountain (7km) for a good view of the Cardamom Mountains

  • Lunch at an old residence where the Cambodian king used to stay

  • Cycle back to Chambok (30km down the mountain)

  • Dinner in Chambok then sleep at the homestay

      Day 5       Day 6
  • Ride in an ox-cart

  • 3 hour hike with a local guide up through the forest visiting 3 waterfalls and a bat cave

  • Learn to make handicrafts or to cook traditional food

  • A last-night party with the community where we’ll cook bamboo sticky rice and you’ll be encouraged to try Khmer dancing

  • Spend the night at the homestay

  • Plant trees in Chambok

  • Go to the nearby market of Treng Troyueng and look around the stalls

  • Visit an orphanage based in Treng Troyueng and meet the children

  • Leave from Treng Troyueng
